The perfect property investment podcasts to listen to while on lockdown...

If property investment was something you were thinking about before the lockdown began, now’s the time to really dig into it and find out whether it’s right for you.

It’s been a few weeks now since the government ordered a lockdown of the country. Sure, Netflix is always there, and spending time with family is so incredibly important, but there are times when we may need to exercise our brains or feel as though we are working towards something. If property investment was something you were thinking about before the lockdown began, now’s the time to really dig into it and find out whether it’s right for you.

Bearing this in mind, we’ve created a list of what we believe to be the best podcasts instantly available for anyone looking to get into property investment – whether you’re a newbie or an experienced investor, we’re sure you’ll get something out of these FREE and interesting podcasts…

1.  The Property Podcast

The Property Podcast from Property Hub is the podcast for investors both new and experienced. The show is presented by Rob Dix, self-confessed property geek and the author of four books, and Rob Bence, who runs an investment consultancy.

The duo discuss a different topic each week, inviting listeners to join in with their challenges or experiences. They both invest in UK property, so they practise what they preach. No hard sell, no bull, just straight-talking property investment advice. The weekly podcast covers everything from how to approach refurbs and how many mortgage applications you can apply for at once, to whether repossessed properties are mortgageable and what PM Boris Johnson’s latest measures will mean for property investors. The podcast boasts 32,000 members, more than 4,000 five-star reviews and 180,000 downloads a month.

2.  The Property Geek Podcast

Rob Dix of The Property Podcast also presents another podcast called The Property Geek Podcast. In this podcast, Dix interviews financial specialists and experienced investors in a different area of UK property investment each week. He discusses the major issues in the interviewees’ fields and draws out top tips for investors to benefit from.

Podcasts range from how to choose the right type of funding for a project and how to raise funds with joint ventures to releasing lock-away equity and how to use peer-to-peer finance. This has a 4.5 out of 5 rating, so it is a popular podcast among investors.

3.  Inside Property

Inside Property is the bi-monthly podcast hosted by seasoned investor and NLA representative Richard Blanco. This podcast looks to provide commentary and analysis on a wide range of property-related and housing-related issues. Recent podcasts include topics such as how to end a tenancy well and how to be an ethical landlord, as well as crime in the private and social rented sectors and whether it’s still a good time to invest.

4.  Progressive Property Podcast

Hosted by the professional property investor Kevin McDonnell, the Progressive Property Podcast claims to help you make smarter property investments with little or no money. That is some claim, but with 140 episodes to listen to, the selection has a broad offering for new or experienced investors.

Whatever kind of investor you are, the Progressive Property Podcast says it will save you time and mistakes and help grow your knowledge and confidence to invest wisely. With the bonus of no ads, the podcast offers interviews from investors who have some of the UK's largest portfolios.

5.  Tej Talks Podcast

Launched in 2018 by investor Tej Singh, he began the podcast with the aim of sharing all the knowledge he’d learnt on the go, and sharing it in a relatable way, with other property investors. He wanted to rise above the ‘celebrity property investors’ and instead bring ‘real stories’ from everyday people.

He covers everything from HMOs, Shared Accomodation, Right to Rent and Buy To Lets to lease options, commercial conversions and buying land. But he also touches on some of the so-called softer skills and topics. Some of his latest podcasts include ‘How to View a Property – a Beginner’s Guide’, ‘Emotional Intelligence and Entrepreneurship’ and ‘My First Property Auction’. iTunes listeners of Tej Talks give him a 5 out of 5 rating.

With all of these options for potential investors to look at, you’re never going to get bored while self isolating or socially distancing. Let us know your favourites and get listening!
